About Me

I've spent more than half of my life assisting people suffering from mental health issues. All the work I do stems from my personal goal to help others in some meaningful way, using my natural abilities. Abilities which have been strengthened by many years of education, training, and experience. My work has taken me through a wide variety of employment settings and challenges, from front line family crisis counseling, to managing the intake process and community relations, for a large youth development program. I have extensive experience with individual and group therapies and enjoy working in both formats.
In my late 40's, I made the decision to take up running for exercise, after not having regularly exercised in a very long time. The process was quite challenging for many obvious reasons. Along the way I faced a number of setbacks, including a fractured ankle, which offered me plenty of excuses to give up. Yet, I persevered, I slowed down, and I listened closely to my body and my mind. As a result, I have done things I never imagined I would be able to do. Change is hard and like reaching any goal, takes desire, and continued effort over time. Pictured above is me, prior to the most difficult race I've run, a brutal 10k race up and down a very steep and hilly trail. The after picture wasn't so pretty, but I finished the race and was proud of my efforts. Proud of the efforts of that day and all the days leading up to it. You can do hard things, as well. Just take it one step at a time.
Photography is my primary creative outlet. I love capturing the beauty I see all around me, whether I'm traveling, or in my own backyard. It allows me to slow down and be more mindful of the beauty in my environment. Some of my photos can be found here on iStock.
